SUPER JET (ΣΟΥΠΕΡ ΤΖΕΤ)

-Sea Jets

Built in 1995 (age 29). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: None (under refit in Salamina)

The small high speed catamaran SUPER JET was built in Sweden in 1995 as the SEA JET 1 for the Greek company Strinztis Lines, hence becoming the company's first-ever high speed craft. She operated on the Cyclades, namely on the Rafina-Andros-Tinos-Mykonos line. In 1996 she was deployed on the Rafina-Andros-Tinos-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos-Amorgos line, before returning to the Rafina-Andros-Tinos-Mykonos line in 1998. In 1999 she served the Rafina-Syros-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini line. Following the takeover of Strintzis Lines by Attica Group which resulted in the establishment of Blue Star Ferries in 2000, she and her sister ship, namely the SEA JET 2 (today the SUPER JET 2, also of Sea Jets), operated for the newly-formed Blue Star Jets division. For her first summer under her new operators, she was on the Rafina-Syros-Tinos-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini-Amorgos line, while in 2001 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Syros-Tinos-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini line. She was sold to Aegean Jet Maritime in 2002, was renamed JET ONE, and she was deployed on the Heraklion-Santorini-Ios-Naxos-Mykonos line. She grounded off in Santorini the following year, almost sinking in the process, but she was quickly repaired in Piraeus. She was sold to the newly-established company Sea Jets in 2004, being renamed SUPER JET, and she was deployed on the Rafina-Samos-Ikaria-Patmos-Leipsoi-Leros line on the Northeast Aegean Sea and on the Dodecanese. In 2005 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Kythnos-Milos-Folegandros-Sikinos-Ios-Santorini-Amorgos-Koufonisi-Irakleia-Schoinousa line. In 2006, and she operated on the Piraeus-Milos-Folegandros-Ios-Santorini line. The following year she operated on the Heraklion-Rethymnon-Santorini line, while in 2008 her service there was extended, as she was deployed on the Heraklion-Rethymnon-Santorini-Ios-Folegandros-Naxos-Mykonos line. In 2009, she was deployed on the Piraeus-Milos-Folegandros-Ios-Santorini-Amorgos-Koufonisi-Naxos-Mykonos line, where she remained until 2012. From 2013 to 2015 she served the Rafina-Tinos-Mykonos-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini line, where she was very successful. In 2016 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Kimolos-Folegandros-Sikinos-Ios-Santorini line. In 2019 she and the SEA JET 2 were deployed on the Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Folegandros-Ios-Santorini-Amorgos-Koufonisi-Naxos-Paros-Mykonos line. In 2020 she and the SEA JET 2 were deployed on the Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Kimolos-Folegandros-Sikinos-Santorini-Amorgos-Koufonisi-Naxos-Paros-Mykonos line. In 2022 she and the SEA JET 2 operated on an inter-Cyclades service on the Sifnos-Milos-Folegandros-Santorini-Amorgos-Koufonisi-Naxos-Paros-Mykonos line. She is currently the catamaran and the high speed craft (if hydrofoils are excluded) with the most experience in the Greek coastal service.
