EXPRESS JET (ΕΞΠΡΕΣ ΤΖΕΤ)

-Sea Jets

ex-SIFNOS JET (ΣΙΦΝΟΣ ΤΖΕΤ), also for Sea Jets (2016-2023)

Built in 1999 (age 25). Registered in Limassol. Current line: None (under refit in Salamina)

The small high speed catamaran EXPRESS JET was built in 1999 in Australia, having been ordered by the New Caledonian company Compagnie Maritime des Îles. She began service as the BETICO in New Caledonia, operating on the Nouméa-Îles des Pins-Maré-Lifou-Ouvéa line. She stayed there for ten years, until she was replaced in 2009 by the newly-built BETICO 2, which was larger and faster than her. As a result, she was listed for sale, and she remained laid-up in Nouméa for seven years. In 2016, she was sold to the Greek company Sea Jets. She arrived later that year in Greece, having been renamed SIFNOS JET. She was converted initially in Elefsina and then in Chalkida and in Piraeus for three years, and her refit was completed in 2019. She subsequently began service for her new owners on the Piraeus-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Kimolos-Folegandros-Thirassia-Santorini-Ios line. In 2020 she was deployed on the Heraklion-Rethymnon-Santorini-Naxos line. In 2021 she was inserted on the Paros-Mykonos line, thus operating a shuttle service between both islands. In 2022 she operated on the Rafina-Tinos-Mykonos-Naxos-Paros line. In 2023 she was renamed EXPRESS JET and she was deployed on the Santorini-Ios-Paros-Mykonos line. In 2024 she operated on the Heraklion-Rethymnon-Santorini line.
