The legendary landing craft GEORGIA M was built in 1965 in Greece, as the ARGONAFTIS for the Greek company Oropos NE. She was deployed on the Oropos-Eretria line, where she would go on to spend the first 15 years of her career. In 1980, she was sold to the Agion Oros-based company Agioreitikes Grammes, and she was deployed on the Trypiti-Ammouliani line. She remained there until 2002, when she was sold to the moving and cargo transportation company Metaforiki Hydras owned by the Marangos family, in order to transport daily merchandise, as a Ro-Ro carrier to the island of Hydra. She was deployed on the Ermioni-Hydra line under the name GEORGIA M, and for the past 22 years she has been a vital ship to the island, as she transports several goods from mainland Greece on a daily basis.
