GEORGIA M (ΓΕΩΡΓΙΑ Μ)

The legendary landing craft GEORGIA M was built in 1965 in Greece, as the ARGONAFTIS for the Greek company Oropos NE. She was deployed on the Oropos-Eretria line on the South Evoian Gulf, where she would go on to spend the first 15 years of her career. In 1980, she was sold to Agioreitikes Grammes, which is based in the Agion Oros, and she was deployed on the Trypiti-Ammouliani line. She remained there until 2002, when she was sold to the cargo transportation company Metaforiki Hydras owned by the Marangos family, in order to operate as a Ro-Ro carrier to the island of Hydra. She was deployed on the Ermioni-Hydra line under the name GEORGIA M, and for the past 23 years she has been a vital ship to the island, as she transports several goods from mainland Greece on a daily basis.
