DIAGORAS (ΔΙΑΓΟΡΑΣ)

-Blue Star Ferries

Built in 1990 (age 34). Registered in Piraeus. Current line: Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene

The great cruiseferry DIAGORAS was built in 1990 in Japan, as the NEW TOSA of the Japanese company for Osaka-Kōchi Tokkyu Ferry. She spent her first nine years on the Osaka-Kōchi line, before she was bought by the Greek company Dodekanisos Speedways (known as Dodekanisos Seaways since 2005). She was due to be renamed PANAGIA SKIADENI and to be deployed from Piraeus to the Dodecanese, but she was instead sold to the Rhodes-based company DANE Sea Line, which renamed her LINDOS. After an extensive conversion in Perama during which she was eventually renamed DIAGORAS, she began service in 2001, being deployed on the Piraeus-Patmos-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Nisyros-Tilos-Symi-Rhodes line on the Dodecanese. In 2004 she was arrested by crew in Piraeus, after which DANE Sea Line ceased operations. All of the company's ships remained abandoned in Piraeus and in Drapetsona. After two years of lay-up, she was purchased by Blue Star Ferries in 2006. After a small conversion in Perama, she returned to service on the Dodecanese, being deployed on the Piraeus-Astypalaia-Kalymnos-Kos-Rhodes line. Ιn 2007, she was inserted on the Dodecanese lifeline, being deployed on the Piraeus-Astypalaia-Patmos-Leipsoi-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Nisyros-Tilos-Symi-Rhodes line. In 2008 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Paros-Naxos-Ios-Santorini-Astypalaia-Patmos-Leipsoi-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Nisyros-Tilos-Symi-Rhodes line. In 2009 she changed her port registry from Rhodes to Piraeus, and she was deployed on the Piraeus-Paros-Naxos-Astypalaia-Patmos-Leipsoi-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Nisyros-Tilos-Symi-Rhodes-Castellorizon line and on the Thessaloniki-Limnos-Sigri-Chios-Samos-Kalymnos-Kos-Rhodes line. In 2011 she stopped operating from Thessaloniki and was deployed on the Piraeus-Paros-Naxos-Santorini-Astypalaia-Patmos-Leipsoi-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Nisyros-Tilos-Symi-Rhodes-Castellorizon line. In 2012, she was deployed full-time on the Dodecanese lifeline, serving the Piraeus-Astypalaia-Patmos-Leipsoi-Leros-Kalymnos-Kos-Nisyros-Tilos-Symi-Rhodes-Castellorizon line. In 2016, right before the start of the summer season, her company sold her to the Moroccan company Africa Morocco Link for service between Spain and Morocco, on the Algeciras-Tangier Med line on the Gibraltar Strait. She was however bought back by Blue Star Ferries in 2018. After retuning to Greece, she was deployed on the Piraeus-Mykonos-Patmos-Ikaria-Fournoi-Samos-Chios-Mytilene-Limnos-Kavala line. In 2020 she mainly operated on the Piraeus-Chios-Mytilene line, while in 2021 she was deployed on the Piraeus-Mykonos-Patmos-Leros-Ikaria-Fournoi-Samos-Chios-Mytilene-Limnos-Kavala line. In 2022 she served the Piraeus-Leros-Patmos-Ikaria-Fournoi-Samos-Chios-Mytilene-Limnos-Kavala line, whereas in 2023 she operated on the Thessaloniki-Kavala-Limnos-Mytilene-Chios-Samos-Ikaria-Patmos-Leros line.
